Zanaco had Red Arrows to thank for beating Power Dynamos 1-0 considering that victory for the latter would have denied the Keagan Mumba side league glory on Saturday.
The league title was hanging on delicate balance and was only decided on the final day with the ‘Bankers’ taking the initiative to win.
Playing at Arthur Davies stadium the home of Power Dyanmos, Nkana seemed to do their ‘friendly’ neighbours a favor after they scored one first to take the lead on 11 minutes through Reynold Kampamba who struck from the spot after Ziyo Tembo brought down Evans Kangwa in the area.
Zanaco stuck to their task as they replied in the 26th minute through Stephen Phiri to go to the break on level terms.
Sensing that they had a good chance of winning the title with their rivals trailing, Zanaco came back from the break breathing fire as they banged in two goals through Ziyo Tembo and Stephen in the 55th and 60thminute to ensure that they ran away with the title.
Power who had destiny in their hands on the other hand failed to set any form of rhythm in the first half and were on the back foot from the starting whistle.
Arrows looked like they wanted it more with their wide players Justin Nshimbi and Bruce Musakanya causing the champion (then) a lot of problems.
Musakanya was brought down harshly in the 2nd minute for what could have been a penalty, but the referee Jani Sikazwe waved play on.
Arrows continued piling pressure and it was not long before Daniel Sibanda scored from near the penalty spot from a corner which resulted from a brillian shot parried by goalkeeper Joshua Titima.
In-form Emmanuel Chimpinde almost got Power level just before the break but his wonderful shot from just outside the box was pushed on to the cross bar by Danny Munyao.
