The Non-Governmental Organization Coordinating Council (NGOCC) says the ruling PF should realize that it will never be in power in perpetuity, but will one day leave power and as such should learn from the mistake of others.
NGOCC Board Chairperson Beatrice Grillo said she was worried to see every government that comes to power pushing for a constitution that fits the ruling party.
She said the ruling Patriotic Front has a lot to learn from the mistakes of the MMD.
Grillo said it was very clear that the MMD, while in power, tried to tailor a constitution that met its own aspirations which is now haunting them after leaving office.
“ PF should realize that it will never be in power in perpetuity, but will one day leave power,” Grillo told QFM radio.
She says the PF government should make a difference by fulfilling the wishes of the citizens and coming up with a constitution that will stand a taste of time.
“The ongoing constitution making process is worrisome and is creating a lot of questions amongst citizens on its commitment to the process,” she said.
