Foreign affairs minister Given Lubinda and Muvi Television managing director Steve Nyirenda have testified in a matter where a visually impaired journalist hacked phones for high profile personalities and stole airtime worth K18 million.
Jairus Tembo is charged with seven counts of theft of money in form of airtime from senior government officials among them Lubinda, defence minister Geoffrey Mwamba and other businessmen such as Nyirenda.
Lubinda testified that he could not understand how he run out of talktime whenever he recharged his phone.
He said when the problem persisted, he reported the issue to an Airtel dealer and demanded to change his sim card.
Nyirenda also told the court how he lost about K3.5 million worth of talktime in unexplained circumstances. The matter is adjourned to January, 21 for continued trial.
