After months of heavy handed enforcement of the Public Order Act by the Zambia Police Service, justice minister Wynter Kabimba has finally admitted that there is a problem.
Kabimba has been a happy proponent of the forceful enforcement of the POA using police officers who are the primary implementers.
However, Kabimba has surprisingly condemned police officers who invaded the Magistrates court this week to serve a call out to UPND president Hakainde Hichilema.
Kabimba has said the police behavior was uncalled for and that it was tantamount to contempt of court, which should never be repeated.
Over a long time, Kabimba has undressed the Office of the Ministry of Justice by behaving as a typical PF cadre without regard to upholding the fundamental human rights.
Several stakeholders have condemned him and the PF government for their tendency to stifle people’s human rights but he has never regretted any brutal action on his opponents.
