Western Province Approve Christian Nation Clause

Delegates at the Western Province constitution convention have adopted a clause to retain Zambia as a Christian.

The delegates have also said Zambia should remain a unitary state. This follows government misunderstanding with the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) in the recent past.

The delegates further want the preamble of the constitution to recognise the need for the Zambian government to recognise the BRE agreement.

In Muchinga delegates have started making final submissions. The Technical Committees reviewing the constitution is currently holding provincial conferences in Muchinga, Luapula and Western Provinces simultaneously.

The recommendations will subsequently form the content of the final constitution.
