The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) says it is inappropriate for home affairs minister Edgar Lungu to ban the group escort of any person summoned for questioning by the police.
YALI governance adviser Isaac Mwanza says the police should instead find a more fitting way of dealing with the process.
Mwanza says there is nothing wrong with political cadres showing support to its leader whenever summoned by the police.
He says what is also of importance is that cadres must understand that their escort is not to give a show down to the police but only to give support to the person they escort.
Mwanza states that the decision by Lungu is uncalled for in Zambia, as a democratic nation.
He says YALI will never be in agreement with any move to work against the rights of citizens.
