The Zambia Bureau of Standards says it has been conducting laboratory tests on all condoms that are imported and sold on the Zambian market.
ZABS director Mutale said the condoms on the market are always tested as most of the distributors are the Ministry of Health and Society for Family Health
He said the condoms that come into the country are subjected to inspections and it is a requirement that they should meet the minimum standards
“When condoms are imported, they are subjected to inspections and tests. The major importers of condoms are the Ministry of Health or Society for Family Health, which constitutes 98 percent of the importers. The condoms are inspected, tested and certified before they are distributed on the market,” he said.
