Libongani Warns Political Parties

Inspector General of Police Stella Libongani has warned political parties participating in the Mpongwe and Livingstone by-election to obtain permits for them to comply with Public Order Act.

Libongani said all political parties should conduct peaceful campaigns and comply with the Public Order Act in order to promote peace during elections.

“I want to urge the political parties to ensure that they campaign peacefully and police will marshal the elections before, that is the campaign period, nominations, the election day itself and even up to the day we will be having the winners announced.

“But it is important that political parties themselves cooperate with us as police. I expect them to give notices to respective police offices in order for them to be allowed to hold peaceful campaigns,” she said.
