The Zambia Union of Financial Institutions and Allied Workers (ZUFIAW) has called on government to take stern action against public officers who have been cited in the latest Auditor General’s report.
ZUFIAW president Cephus Mukuka says it is only when government takes financial irregularities brought out in the report seriously that will the PF government’s stance on corruption yield positive results.
He says it is unacceptable that every year, the Auditor general’s report records cases that go unattended to.
Mukuka has since urged government to find a lasting solution to the mismanagement of public resources and ensure that funds misapplied are recovered.
The Auditor General has released the 2011 report which has revealed glaring misapplication and misappropriation of funds by public officers among others.
