    Unconfirmed reports indicate the Football Association of Zambia has banned Ndola-based administrator Andre Mtine for life on charges of allegedly bringing the name of the game into disrepute. Sources at Football House have disclosed that Mtine was banned for allegedly being part of the confusion leading to the tiff between FAZ and Democratic Republic of Congo side TP Mazembe.   • Female Boxer’s Purse Money Triggers Dispute

    A dispute has emerged over the purse money of newly crowned World Boxing Council Bantamweight female boxing champion Catherine Phiri with her family saying the K37, 000 paid to her was too little. But the Zambia Professional Boxing Board of Control says Phiri should not have signed the contract if she was not happy. However, her manager Christopher Malunga who has not denied paying her K37, 000 said the boxer got more than the reported amount and also received other additional perks like rentals for her house in Kabwata.     Orlando Pirates Coach Vladimir Vermezovic says Collins Mbesuma’s season is over and the player is likely to leave the club at the end of the season. Mbesuma has failed to break into Pirates’ line-up this year and Vermezovic says the striker’s body language at training suggests that of someone ready to retire from football.     Outspoken Zambian coach Keagan Mumba has died, according to Reports reaching indicate that Mumba, who until his death was on the sidelines of the Zanaco technical bench, died in the early hours of today at Lusaka Trust Hospital. The former Zambia assistant coach who has a stint with the Under-20 and Under 23 died after an illness.   • FAZ Hands Simataa a Life Ban

    The Football Association of Zambia has banned football administrator Simataa Simataa from “all Football Association of Zambia activities for life”. Simataa, a veteran football coach, who has managed teams in the lower leagues including UNZA Stars, Amakumbi, Makumbi Stars and now Mtendere Football Club, was banned for life due to allegedly making remarks against the Football Association of Zambia on Radio Phoenix on December 20, 2013.   • Zambia Makes Slight Stride on FIFA Chart

    Zambia has moved one place up the FIFA rankings released on March 13 but find themselves ranked lower than Sierra Leone. Patrice Beaumelles’ side has moved from 75 to 74 following their 2-1 home win over The Uganda Cranes on March 5 in Ndola. However, Sierra Leone are two places above the 2012 African champions in 72nd place and 15th on the CAF rankings.
