Government Lost K2 Trillion in Corrupt Oil Deals

According to a Commission of Inquiry headed by Patriotic Front General Secretary Wynter Kabimba, the previous government lost approximately 2 trillion Kwacha (about US$400 million) through corrupt oil supply deals.

Kabimba issued the accusations during the presentation of the commission’s paper before President Michael Sata at State House today.  The party also claimed that the Ministry of Energy and Water Development in the previous administration was involved in illegal tenders and malpractices that led to the loss of government resources.

Much like the Zamtel Commission of Inquiry as well as First National and Zanaco, the opposition has discarded these accusations as politically motivated and chaired by an biased party (Kabimba).
