Unruly cadres of the Patriotic Front party jeered and booed UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema and other members of the opposition at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross just after Princess Nakatindi’s requiem mass.
This happened during the funeral church service for the late Princess Nakatindi at the Anglican Cathedral in Lusaka today attended by President Sata, Dr Kaunda, Hichilema, foreign diplomats and other dignitaries.
And as soon as President Sata and other government officials left the Church, PF cadres that had gathered spotted Hichilema’s entourage and started singing provocative songs against the opposition leader.
Hichilema, who was being interviewed by journalists in front of the PF cadres, was seen raising his party symbol and gesturing against the PF cadres.
The situation almost developed into an altercation when the cadres started hurling insults, but alert police officers moved in and restrained them.
