Zambia Inks $354.8m Deal with Millennium Challenge Corporation

THE government is expected to sign a US$354.8 million five-year Compact with the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), the largest investment in Zambia’s water sector since independence.

First secretary for press at the Zambian Embassy in Washington DC, Ben Kangwa said the Compact would be signed by next month.

“The Millennium Challenge Corporation and the Zambian government are scheduled to sign the US$354.8 million five-year Compact,” Kangwa stated.

“It is expected that through the Compact, the Lusaka water supply, sanitation and drainage project will provide residents greater access to water, sanitation and drainage services.

And finance minister Alexander Chikwanda thanked the United States government for the gesture.
