The Patriotic Front government says it will create over a million jobs by 2016.
Finance minister Alexander Chikwanda said government was working towards creating one million new jobs in the formal sector in the next five years.
He said government was keen to growing the economy to at least 7.7% this year.
Chikwanda was speaking at the national conference on employment, decent work and development in Zambia at government complex in Lusaka on Monday.
And International Trade Union Confederation Deputy General Secretary Jaap Wienen says creation of decent jobs remains a major challenge for Zambia.
