Police in Lusaka and the Drug Enforcement Commission have formally charged and arrested the purported winner of K1 billion, MTN Summer Campaign WIN BEEG Promotion and the MTN Call Centre Support Engineer, for cheating and money laundering related offences.
Namuchana Sinuma, 31, of House No. 10 Dambwa North in Livingstone fraudulently won the K1 billion MTN WIN BEEG promotion and has been arrested together with her accomplice Jones Mwangala Ilukena, 43, an MTN Call Centre Support Engineer of Emmasdale compound in Lusaka.
It was purported that Namuchana was a genuine winner of the promotion when in fact the outcome had been predetermined in her favour as Mr. Jones Ilukena had allegedly hacked the MTN IT system to rig the winner.
Jones Mwangala Ilukena is alleged to have intentionally and without authority interfered with data of MTN Summer Campaign WIN BEEG promotion by virtual of his position, contrary to Section 99 (2) of the Electronic Communications Act no. 21 of 2009.
The accused have since been released on bond and will appear in court soon.
