Over 200 Recalled Zambian Diplomats still Stranded

Over 200 diplomats abruptly recalled from Zambian foreign mission by the PF government are stranded and seeking audience with the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Diplomats are civil servants who upon recall are re-deployed into public service but the PF government employed a drastic and unprecedented system to recall a huge number of diplomats.

Those recalled have since been replaced by President Michael Sata’s relatives, PF cadres and some stone throwers who worked for the PF aligned Post Newspaper.

The diplomats were all asked to report back to Zambia not later than May and this has also created a lot of pressure on the country’s treasury as they were promised payment of three months home salary in advance.

Foreign Affairs minister Given Lubinda has not set the date for the meeting with the stranded diplomats.
