MMD’s Musokotwane Doubts Constitution Process

A senior member of the MMD, Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane, is doubting the legitimacy of the current constitution making process.

Dr Musokotwane, the Lealui member of parliament, says the current process constitution making process lacks the involvement of majority other stakeholders in the country.

Western Province where Dr Musokotwane hails has rejected the process to concentrate on their pursuit of seccession.

The Patriotic Front government promised to deliver a constitution within 90 days but is spending billions of kwacha on the process which was initially not budgeted for.

Dr. Musokotwane said most people in Western Province have shunned the process because it was not all-inclusive.

He says the PF is imposing the constitution making process it had opposed the time the ruling party was in opposition.

Dr. Musokotwane, according to Qfm, said the PF government has hijacked the constitution making process and made it less inclusive.

But the government has on several occasions tried to explain that what is important now is to adopt the views of the people that were captured in four of the constitution review commissions.
