The MMD has suspended six of its Copperbelt district chairpersons for receiving funds from the ruling PF party to destabilize the organisation.
MMD Copperbelt province chairperson Joseph Zulu said Mufulira, Kitwe, Kalulushi, Chililabombwe, Chingola and Ndola district chairpersonspended with immediate effect for working with the ruling party.
The named the officials as Goldwin Muyambo, Jackson Kawaya, William Nyirenda, Obby Mwansa and Wynter Chilekwa.
Zulu said the party had sufficient evidence implicating the suspended officials and therefore there was not need of allowing them to continue serving in leadership positions.
He said the PF is behind the disturbances that have rocked Copperbelt and that members of the ruling party have been found conducting meetings with the said MMD officials.
Zulu further said the party was conducting a cleanup exercise and that all compromised members would be fished out.
