Armed Men Attack Two Chinese Investors in Chipata

Police in Chipata say two Chinese nationals were last night attacked by armed robbers at AST Cotton Company in Chipata district in Eastern Province.

Confirming the incident, Eastern Province deputy Police Commissioner Alfred Nawa said the unnamed Chinese nationals were in the early hours hacked by robbers who were armed with machetes.

He said the two put up a fight before they were injured in the incident which was reported around 03 hours this morning.

The Police Chief disclosed that the assailants were also injured and appealed to health authorities in the province to report suspicious injured people who may seek attention at any health facility.

He stated that the police would do everything possible to ensure that the three culprits who were on the run; were brought to book.

He advised the Chinese nationals to maximize security at their plant where they were also residing.
