Former finance minister Emmanuel Kasonde’s wife, Christine, has been evicted from her house situated in Lusaka’s New Kasama by a finance leasing institution.
Christine has been homeless for the past three days following the eviction with area councillor Mulenga Sata providing a tent to shelter the family from the harsh rainy weather.
They were evicted after the family failed to liquidate the outstanding debt to a leasing finance company in Lusaka that the late Kasonde obtained.
Kasonde had borrowed money and offered his house as collateral but he died before he could complete settling his debt.
Christine, who looked shocked at the action, complained that she was worried for the little children and some patients that she was keeping at home.
