GBM Gives Nc’wala K50 million

Defence minister Geoffrey Mwamba has donated K50 million (KR 50, 000 rebased) towards holding the Nc’wala traditional ceremony of Eastern Province.

At a fundraising meeting on Monday, Mwamba, a PF presidential hopeful, was one of the major donors along with Airtel Zambia that presented a cheque of K186 million.

Chief government spokesperson Kennedy Sakeni said the traditional ceremony is important in the promotion of tourism in Zambia.

Organising chairperson Noel Nkhoma said the total budget for the ceremony was about K587 million (KR 587, 000 rebased) and that they have so far raised about k280 million (KR 280, 000 rebased) for the occasion.

Paramount Chief Mpezeni will have clocked 30 years on the throne this year.
