Political activist Dante Saunders says the Patriotic Front government is not prepared to give Zambians a constitution that will stand the test of time.
Saunders says the Constitution plays a critical role in the country’s governance system.
He says the lack of coordination emanating from statements by senior government officials on the constitution have clearly indicated that the government is not heeding to the calls of Zambians.
Saunders has since urged Civil Society organisations in the country to take a leading role to ensure that Zambia has a good constitution.
He says it is unfortunate that the PF government have become irrelevant in the constitution making process alleging that they are opposed to the provision they promised to implement for the people.
The Technical committee of experts is currently concluding with provincial conventions on the draft Constitution but it is unclear whether government will subject people’s submissions to a Referendum process.
