Police Impound Suspected Stolen Copper in Chingola

The Anti Jerabo’s team has impounded a truck loaded with copper ore suspected to have been stolen in Chingola on Copperbelt Province.

Copperbelt police commissioner Mary Tembo has confirmed the arrest saying the copper ore transported in a Volvo truck ACC 8006 was impounded at a railway crossing around 13:30 hours.

Tembo said the truck was intercepted after spotting it coming from a township where most Jerabos are found. She said police have since arrested the driver, Emmanuel Zimba, 29 and his assistant Stephen Musonda, 22 of Chingola.

She said they arrested the driver after failing to give a satisfactory explanation of the ownership of the copper ore that was loaded in piles of 25 kilogramme bags.

Tembo said the two suspects are detained at Chingola Central Police while the truck is also impounded.
