Copperbelt Has Highest Drug Trafficking – DEC

Silomba DECThe Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has said Copperbelt has had the highest number of drug trafficking cases in the past six months.

DEC spokesperson Samuel Silomba has said the institution has arrested 2,512 people for drug trafficking in the past six months with about 34.6 tonnes of assorted drugs over the period

Silomba said out of the total arrests, 2,449 are Zambians while 53 were foreign nationals.

He said Copperbelt Province had recorded the highest arrests with 752 cases while Lusaka Province was second with 491 while the remainder was shared by the eight remaining provinces.

Silomba also said they have arrested a 43-year-old Tanzania national with two pockets of cocaine. The suspect will appear in court soon.
