African Swine Fever Hits Lusaka

PigsLusaka has been hit by African Swine Fever that threatens to wipe out the pig population in the capital.

Chief Veterinary Officer Joseph Mubanga said the the ministry of agriculture had moved to stop the disease from spreading.

Mubanga said the entry of pigs from outisde Lusaka had been suspended.

He said movement of pigs from within Lusaka would also be limited until they had contained the disease.

Mubanga said the disease had a 90 % chance of killing pigs once contracted.
