Sata Arrives to Mkushi to Campaign

President Michael Sata has arrived to Mkushi today where he is joining the Patriotic Front campaign effort to support the parliamentary by-election.

This is the first time that the president has been seen in public since June 20, 2014, and the first time since the internal succession struggle led him to fire one of his top proteges, Justice Minister and PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba.

According to a source close to State House, President Sata is making this trip against the medical advice of his doctors, and in fact had an intense argument with First Lady Dr Christine Kaseba before departing State House by road to City Airport.

President Sata will attend a Chiwelamushi ceremony and expected to give a speech at a campaign rally today, and may possibly make additional campaign trips in the coming days.
