The race for the free for all Patriotic Front presidency has reached nine, with the Former First Lady Dr. Christine Kaseba filing her own nomination papers, which were delivered to the PF Secretariat by Wife to Acting President Charlotte Scott. The application was received by Acting President Guy Scott.
Dr. Kaseba’s nomination papers were shortly preceded by Commerce Minister Bob Sichinga better known as “Bashi Nono” joining the race.
And Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili has also sneaked in his application for the presidency joining some of the initial big backers of Edgar Lungu for the top job.
Sichinga who held a press briefing to announce his candidature said that he had the qualities to lead the party to a new level.
The Commerce Minister who has been hazy about his ambitions came out of his shell to announce that he will join the crowded race to succeed late President Michael Sata.
The full complement of confirmed participants in the ruling party has Lungu, Kambwili, Sichinga, Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, Miles Sampa, Captain Selemani Banda, Given Lubinda and Mulenga Sata.
Lungu finally came off his strong headedness and filed his nomination before acting President Guy Scott.
The nominations are expected to close this evening with more candidates expected to make last minute bids as it free for all.
