Lungu who has admitted that he takes “a bottle or two” said that his drinking was not a problem that affected his mental faculties.
The Patriotic Front aspiring President has also accused some of his opponents in the ruling party in the presidential race of soliciting for the vice presidency in exchange for the support.
Lungu said that some of them had announced their candidature after he had failed to guarantee that they will be appointed vice president if he wins the elections.
“Of course I take a bottle or two but it is not a problem that affects my work. They are busy talking about my drinking, what about those who are homosexuals? Why don’t they talk about themselves? They are all over talking about me yet some of them have peculiarities totally out of order,” Lungu said.
He said that some of the candidates that had thrown their hats in the ring for the PF presidency had been begging him to guarantee them the vice presidency.
“Some of the people that are challenging have been asking me to give them the vice presidency when I win but since there is no guarantee they have now decided to challenge me.”
The free for all PF presidential race has attracted 10 contesters among them five members of late President Michael Sata’s family.
Among the family members are widow Dr Christine Kaseba, son Mulenga Sata, Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, Miles Sampa and Bob Sichinga.
