Political scientist Alex Ng’oma says the heightened political violence being witnessed in the ongoing campaigns is an indictment on Zambia’s democracy.
Dr. Ng’oma fears that the growth of the country’s democracy is presently under serious threat.
Dr. Ng’oma is urging political parties to do everything in their power to ensure the political environment in the country stabilizes ahead of the elections.
He says this is the only way Zambia’s democracy will be given room to continue growing and consolidated.
Dr. Ng’oma adds that it is a fact that the political violence being witnessed is a sign that the Country’s democracy has not matured.
He states that Democracy in Zambia will only reach the point of maturity when people begin to respect the rule of law and the principles and tenets of Democracy.
