Cholera Cases Reach 17 in Lusaka

Lusaka has been hit by a cholera outbreak with merely the first signs of rain.

The cholera incidences have reached 17 with two more cases reported in Lusaka’s Kanyama Township.
Cholera in Zambia is an annual problem although the public may be concerned that with barely the rain season commencing the capital city has already fallen

The patients are admitted at the Kanyama Cholera Centre with the disease having broken out on October 4.

The affected are Chipata, Mazyopa, Kabanana and Kanyama Townships.

    Most unusual and avoidable illnesses grip our Land. Just after mosquito nets were distributed country wide and now cholera a water borne disease is upon us. We hope it can be combated considering it’s a quick/fast spreading disease. Comment

    Currently, we need some of the health workers to go out in different communities as soon as possible especially the affected areas to sensitize the people on hygiene and ways to prevent cholera. As the saying goes,prevention is better than cure.

    people in this area when thy dont have money to pay for drinking water from taps,they draw water from their self dugout wells that 30,50cm away from latrines.and ground water is found about less than 45cm from the surface.plz government, make health people to check this and save the nation.u cannot treat people wthout first deal with the source of the disease.
