City Kiss Super League Goodbye

City of Lusaka’s short lived stay in the Super Division came to a crushing end with a 4-1 loss to Zesco United who leapfrogged Green Buffaloes to second position with a game in hand.

The 1964 league champions have been banished from using their home stadium in Woodlands by FAZ following a sponsorship wrangle with league sponsors MTN.

City of Lusaka have only managed 15 points in 32 matches with three wins and six draws to dump them out with six matches remaining before the close of the league.

Goals from Jesse Were, Lazarus Kambole (brace) and Chibesa Chanda sunk ‘Yamoto’ as they are fondly known to consign Chilenje side to lower division football.

City of Lusaka skipper Edward Tembo scored the consolation for the noisy Yamoto fans.

With the calculators out, the arithmetic confirms City of Lusaka’s relegation as even winning their remaining six matches will only push them to 33 points with that statistic not enough to save them with a miserable goal difference that is minus 35.

I remember very well when SLAMU Fc from Eastern Province was in D one and played City at Woodlands Stadium were SLAMU Fc lost two nil. The insults from City supporters to traveling fans, the boosting that City didn’t belong to D one but the Supper League and that they wanted teams like Zesco United to beat because they would much any team at that level. Now to my surprise, they are kissing an early good bye to the supper Division which they then claimed they belonged. That is the way it goes City in the real men’s league boys are separated from real men with their tails folded between their legs.” Its over over kwasila City ayenda citikaonana futu kulibe kubela” KALAPA & MAN U ematimu

I think the change of the technical bench within a short period of affected the technical approach to most of the games. It was an error on the part of City management to fire the Coach that secured City’s promotion to the Super division

FAZ must also put its house in order with regards to player registration as well making wide consultations before making certain decisions e.g the burning of Vadofone

FAZ must also put its house in order with regards to player registration as well making wide consultations before making certain decisions e.g the banning of Vodafone Woodlands Stadium for Premier League games.. Otherwise there’s a possibility of this league being won in the board room if we’re to strictly follow the rules of the game, a lot of big teams were found wanting in terms of player registration
