Letter: Opposition Is Toothless – UNZA Student

Please hide my ID,

I wish to express my deepest disappointment in the strongest terms with opposition political parties like UPND, FDD, Green Party, Rainbow Party to mention a few.

A major concern towards the closure of our top 2 universities, UNZA and CBU, is on the table and yet as the strongest opposition, they have been quiet.

I believe you are all toothless. Don’t you think it’s time to win support from the students by being on their side? Don’t you value education as much as the development of this nation is at stake?

You and I know that the reasons the government is using to keep these institutions closed are barely inadequate to prove their legitimacy.

It’s my strongest appeal to HH, Edith Nawakwi, Peter Sinkamba and all other oppositions to speak on behalf of students.

Kind regards,
Concerned Student

The opposition UPND have and they are always on your side.they have been talking about this same saga day and night so don’t you dare to say they are toothless.I think tis the high time to pause that narration to the current regime and not to the oppositions.why I say so because I believe you belong to a cartain political party, but I put it to you that you belong to PF because they are the only ones that think all is well(lungu). As I conclude I would like to call for unity and comment by calling a spade a spade.and cry to the govmnt to hear our cries not putting blames on people who are not in authority.

Yeah it is really sad story, but as far as I am concerned these other parties can speak against the government but Not UPND you know what rats can do

now you’re calling for the opposition parties to voice out but you were supporting PF in 2016 open your eyes to see where PF is taking this country so that in 2021 you will vote wisely.

UPND should only talk on behalf of Tonga students as a tribal party l say this because HH made it clear that only a Tonga can lead that political party when he succeeded late Mazoka

I think most of you opposition party leaders you are not qualified polititians, remember that 2021 general ellection will just come at once & once you miss that oppotunity, capwa, kwamana, kwasila, so in order for you to make it, you must come togather and form a single opposition party, we are tiyerd of PF and it is no longer listening to our cryz, they have even coverd their ears in order not to hear from our voices.

Hey hey hey hey I think the most stupid thing is to cry to the opposition error ba unza.why crying to them when we rejected them do they have authority to re-open the institutions the answer is nooo..instead what do we do to show the cowards that closed the skuz that we have eyes and mouths to make up things health.let’s jst cry to the government mr Lungu in specific because he is the man we chose to lead us.let’s tell him we are not happy with the moves of the minister Nkandu Luo specifically.. I think it is not necessary to necessarily post cries that are unnecessary yl people that have no dominion over our cries whilst leaving people that lead us into this great pain we are going through.so guys Lungu and Luo are the ones to be blamed ask then why they are treating us this painful way.HH is jst a citizen I like us got no power to stop the mission set by the president wala bakamba.

The only problem with you students is that when the opposition speaks for you,you pay them back by saying they are bitter and frustrated and will never rule Zambia. When its time to give them a vote, you betray them by voting for your tribesmen and relatives simply because tribalism inherited from your forefathers still haunt you.You see now, you need them to speak for you.Though the illiterate are the majority in zambia and often win, there is something you can do to turn the tables round. As learned ones, you can easily influence the illiterates using your acquired knowledge.

That picture. Does n’t the university provide washing lines so that linen is not hung on the balcony giving the impression of a slum? In some countries there are byelaws barring the hanging of washing on balconies. Sorry I forget this is third world

Hello people let’s be real and stop blame shifting/ prejudice. Yes the government can be blamed in all manner of political or social understanding but lets come to reality, if we blame the government, what is wrong with the government, because the ministry of health has inspected the premises and the findings are not in favour of human habitation and hence recommend actions to close not only unza and cbu but any place which was not meeting the standards including Lusaka cenral business
District. The government has been cleaning these places but who is messing them to that extent? We the people that use them. If
The government was going to let these institutions open in their hazardious state and people die of cholera, you the same people if you were going to survive was going to be saying the government has failed to protect the students.

It’s not easy to make these complex dicissons as you may think but when you arrive at it no matter how painful it may feel you just go for it because of that bigger picture ahead of you. In this case it is neither ruling nor opposition but just something which needs our cooperation so we can save lives and must not be politicised. Thank you coming out but learn that prevention is better than cure.
