Ngulube’s sentiments are in direct contrast with his Chifubu counterpart Frank Ng’ambi who has been tasked to move a motion to limit the number of times a person may contest Presidential elections.
The Kabwe lawmaker said he would never support such a piece of legislation as it would be against the tenets of democracy.
“I do not think we should be thinking about such laws. It is not only undemocratic but barbaric. Why should we be introducing laws that target individuals?” he said.
The opposition UPND claim the proposed legislation is targeted at their leader Hakainde Hichilema who has contested and lost five presidential elections.
Hichilema has been a candidate in the 2006, 2008, 2011, 2015 and 2016.
