Kasempa Teachers Flee School Over Alleged Witchcraft Practises

Some Teachers at Kanongo Primary School in Kasempa District of North Western Province have fled the school complaining of high levels of witchcraft in the community.

The teachers who have been transferred after requesting for transfers have alleged that their lives were in danger due to the continued practice of witchcraft.

And Kasempa District Education Board Secretary Collins Masumba who confirmed the development is saddened with the developments.

Mr Masumba has since asked Kanongo residents through the Parent and Teachers Association PTA to construct teachers’ houses in the area if the school is to have more teachers.

He said due to lack of housing accommodation at Kanongo Primary School, teachers have been staying in communities but were not being kept well as all of the complained of witchcraft practices against them.

Mr Masumba said levels of witchcraft in rural schools scare teachers who eventually seek for transfers.

He told Kanongo residents that there is need for them to construct teachers’ houses through the Parents and Teachers Association PTA if more teachers are to be sent at Kanongo primary school.
