Catholic Bishop Decries Corruption Instigated by Professionals

Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) says corruption has continued to ‘suck’ life out of potential and very capable professionals.

Delivering a homily on faith with reference to the gospel reading of 9th July,2018, (Matthew 9:21-26), ZCCB President, Rt. Rev. George Lungu said the country should touch the cloak of Jesus with faith in order to be healed from many ‘hemorrhages’ it is facing.

He described corruption as a virus and haemorrhage which Zambia is faced with.

“As a member of the Conference, ZCCB, I am equally challenged by the faith of the people, in this great nation of Zambia especially through this deadly virus called corruption. [Corruption is] a virus that sucks life out of our potential and very capable doctors, lawyers, engineers, scientists, pilots and name them all. It sucks the life out of the innocent citizens,” he said.

The ZCCB President further observed that because of such developments the country continues to have patients dying at the hands of such doctors; building collapsing because of such engineers; money lost at the hands of such economists and accountants. Humanity dies at the hands of such religious scholars and justice being lost at the hands of such judges.

He added that elections are also lost at the hands of such Election Commissioners while human rights are lost and disregarded.

Bishop Lungu has further noted that those that enter college because of corruption do not deserve it adding that even those that get distinctions are illiterates while the geniuses remain on the streets.

Bishop Lungu said this in his homily when he celebrated Mass for Catholic Bishops in Zambia and the Catholic Secretariat staff in Lusaka on 9th July, 2018.

The Bible says when you see the abomination of disolation stands in the Holy place who ever readeth let him understand. But now in Zambia it’s opposite politicians label them selves to be Christians but filled with evil on there hearts doctors, engineers, pilots, judges lecturers, accountants, human resources , directors, procurement officials and many more they all hold positions in churches in the name of serving the Lord but evil has taken there moral acts. This syndrome can be reduced only when people who are given authority begin to fear the Lord and serve with the fear of the Lord in there hearts.
