The First Lady said this when she visited Mwami Adventist Hospital to see some patients who were earmarked for eye surgeries at Chipata Central Hospital during the 10 day eye camp clinic which commences today.
Earlier the First Lady said the eye camp which is taking place at Chipata Central Hospital is an initiative of the International Islamic Relief Organization of Southern Africa in conjunction with her organization the Esther Lungu Foundation Trust which was working with the ministries of Health and Defence.
“This programme must be embraced by everyone and it really gives me joy to hear that you have opened your hands, doors to receive these patients. This is a programme that is not only ending here in Chipata, we are doing it here as a pilot project but it is intended to spread out to other provinces once it proves successful,” she said.
The first Lady took time to interact with patients in various wards at the hospital which was built over 90 years ago.
The first Lady in conjunction with the ministry of Health would this morning commission the eye clinic at Chipata Central Hospital.
