Napsa Sells 242 Kalulushi Houses from 438 Constructed

Only 242 houses out of the 438 housing Units constructed by National Pensions Scheme Authority in Kalulushi District have been sold off.

And Labour and Social Security Minister Joyce Nonde-Simukoko has directed (NAPSA) to quickly sale off the houses.

Speaking when she toured the houses, Simukoko called for the speedy offloading of the remaining NAPSA houses.

“We need to find a way of offloading these houses I think they have taken longer, I am happy that a good number have been sold but the remaining ones need to go as well,” Simukoko said.

She said selling-off the houses to members of the public is a deliberate way by government of ploughing back monies to pensioners when they retire.

Meanwhile, NAPSA Head of Real Estate Butete Kaliya said there has been an overwhelming response from members of the public since the prices were slashed.

NAPSA had re-advetised the houses which range from 150 thousand to 493 thousand kwacha last year.

The NAPSA Kalulushi Housing project had almost turned into a white elephant after members of the public resisted what they termed as exorbitant prices for rentals.
