Mbuzi Laid to Rest

Former Eastern Province Minister Solomon Mbuzi has been laid to rest with scores of people this morning gathering at St Anne’s Cathedral Parish in Chipata to pay their last respects.

The former diplomat died on Tuesday.

Chipata Diocese Bishop George Lungu who presided over a funeral mass at a fully packed church this described Mbuzi as a great man who understood the importance of education.

Bishop Lungu said Mbuzi’s life was a lesson to many as it was well lived.

PF secretary general Davies Mwila said the late Mbuzi was a real PF founder member and not those who claim to be.

Mwila said Mbuzi contributed greatly to PF’s formation of government in 2011.

He said Mbuzi would be greatly missed by both the party and the government.

After mass at St Anne’s Cathedral, Mbuzi was put to rest at his home village in chief Sairi’s area in Luangeni constituency.

Among those who attended the funeral are former president Rupiah Banda and over ten cabinet ministers.

Mbuzi 85, served as Eastern Province minister twice, Zambia’s ambassador to France and Russia.
