About 1,000 ex miners were handed their letters of offer in the latest round of beneficiaries of the government promise as part of mitigating the impact of retrenchment.
National Ex Miners and Allied Workers Association President Taulo Chewe has disclosed that 20 thousand hectares of land has been allocated to the ex-miners.
Chewe said the demarcation of farm land had delayed due to costs involved but expressed happiness that progress has been recorded.
He has praised President Edgar Lungu for having fulfilled the promise he made to empower ex miners with farm land.
Chewe has since appealed to all beneficiaries to reject the temptation of selling the land but begin farming activities to sustain their livelihoods.
He has further disclosed the association is planning to form cooperatives that will help them access empowerment initiatives from government.
