Embattled Kitwe College of Education Principal Andrew Mutobo has refuted claims that he refused to take up an appointment as Assistant Director Teachers Education and Specialised Services at the Ministry of Education Headquarters in Lusaka.
Mutobo has said that his decision to remain as Principal at Kitwe College of Education is backed by a letter that was written to him by Ministry of General Education Permanent Secretary Dr Felix Phiri.
He said he was in possession of a letter dated 11th December, 2018 addressed to him by the Permanent Secretary not to move despite the transfer by the Teaching Service Commission.
The letter indicates that the office of the Permanent Secretary has not received any correspondence on the transfer from the Teaching Service Commission.
Dr Phiri has communicated that no transfer has been issued from his office and had instructed the Principal to continue discharging his duties at the college.
However, Mutobo’s position may have become untenable following a directive by Minister of General Education David Mabumba who has also indicated that the matter will be put to a close next week.
The Teaching Service Commission appears to have been at the centre of the confusion after having appointed Kitwe DEBS Allan Kaoma to replace the embattled Andrew Mutobo.
