Excessive Speed Killed Chilala, Police say

The Zambia Police Service has said in a statement issued this morning that the accident that killed famous musician Brian Chilala resulted from excessive speed.

Chilala, the veteran local musician famed for songs such as “Nsanje”, died after his vehicle flipped on Lumumba road opposite Auto World around midnight.

“There was a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 10th February,  2019 at 2340 hours along Lumumba  road opposite Auto World. Involved was a Motor Vehicle Mitsubishi Colt registration number ABD 9588, which was being driven by Brian Chilala, a famous musician, whose age  and address is not yet known,” Police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo stated.

She added that the accident was due to excessive speed “which forced him to lose control of the motor vehicle and hit into a street light pole and overturned once”.

Chilala’s body in the UTH mortuary.
