RDA Sends Team to Assess Damaged Mpulungu Road

A team of technical staff from the Road Development Agency has been dispatched to Mpulungu to assess the damage on the Mpulungu-Mbala road washed away by flash floods last week.

The area has experienced normal to above normal rainfall this season, leading to flash floods that have caused damage to this critical infrastructure.

“The Road Development Agency (RDA) has received a report of a road wash away in Mpulungu in the Northern Province on the Mpulungu to Mbala road (M2), approximately 8 km from Mpulungu town at 32 km from Mbala Junction. The Lunzua bridge approach has been washed away following flash floods being experienced in the area. RDA technical staff have dispatched to site as the road has been completely cut off,” RDA Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs Masuzyo Ndhlovu has stated.

“The Agency is doing everything possible to ensure that the flow of traffic is normalised. Road users will be advised in due course of alternative routes to use as we ascertain the immediate interventions in order to restore connectivity.”
