Vandals Cut Off Power Supply to Chongwe

Vandals have cut Zesco’s 33 KV power line which supplies electricity to the entire Chongwe district.

The power utility’s spokesperson Henry Kapata confirmed the incident which happened around 23:30 hours on Sunday.

He said eye witnesses said eight unidentified vandals had been seen and could be behind most reported vandalism cases in the area.

“The residents narrate that during the latest theft, one of the vandals sustained serious burns but was, however, rescued by his fellow vandals who are believed to be looking for a health Centre to treat their fellow criminal,” said Kapata who assured Chongwe residents that normal electricity supply will be restored “as soon as possible”.
