Company Chief Social Services Officer Senga Chitoshi made the disclosure when Copperbelt Minister Japhen Mwakalombe made a stopover at the company’s central offices in Kitwe.
Chitoshi said Mopani Copper Mines had attached great importance to finding out the cause of the mine accident.
She said it was currently difficult to give a position on what led to the fire that killed three miners because investigations were underway.
And Mwakalombe has demanded that investigations be expedited so that the public is well informed.
Mwakalombe said government was worried with the number of lives being lost due to mine accidents.
He implored Mopani Copper Mines to safeguard the lives of its employees whom he said were key to the company’s productivity.
Mwakalombe later visited the three houses of mourning and the survivor admitted at Wusakile Mine Hospital who is said to be in a stable condition.
