Court Adjourns Taxi Driver Murder Case

A 27-year-old man of Chingola charged with one count of murder and another for aggravated robbery has appeared in the Chingola Magistrate Court for mention.

This is in a matter in which Billy Katyanka 27, of 175 Madam Road of Kalulushi District is facing one count of murder and another for aggravated robbery.

Particulars of the offence in the first count are that on dates unknown but between April 1 and April 2, 2019, Katyanka while acting together with other persons, allegedly murdered Joseph Mutale, a taxi driver of Chingola, contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

In the second count, it is alleged that on dates unknown but between April 1 and April 2, 2019, Katyanka, while acting together with other persons unknown, stole a motor vehicle Toyota Corolla Registration Number AIB 9502 valued at K65, 000, the property of Malambo Hamabona using threatening language.

When the matter came up for mention, a State prosecutor informed the court that they had not yet received instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Senior Resident magistrate Peggy Banda adjourned the matter to May 22, 2019 for another mention.
