Good Governance, Expert, Advocacy and Research Services (GEARS) executive director Macdonald Chipenzi says the dismissal of 78 civil servants by the Public Service Commission (PSC) for various offences from January 2019 to date will serve as a lesson to irresponsible public officers in the nation.
Chipenzi said it is good that the Commission has started axing civil servants found wanting for various offences and that this will deter would be offenders.
He said this in an interview with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Chikankata district yesterday.
Chipenzi said the PSC should not relent but continue flashing out erring public officers from employment to bring sanity in the Civil Service.
He said some public officers were irresponsible in the area of discharging public duties as such deserved to be flashed out of the system.
Chipenzi said the move would greatly improve service delivery for the benefit of the Zambian people.
Recently, the Public Service Commission dismissed 78 civil servants from employment for various offences which range from corruption and absenteeism from work for unjustified reasons from January 2019 to date.
