Three suspects have escaped from lawful custody at Kansenshi Police Station in Ndola on the Copperbelt. The three have been identified as Mabvuto Phiri, 23, and Davies Bwale, 27, both of Chilukusu and Bernard Mbewe, 42, of Lubuto West.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner Charity Katanga said the three who are all ex-convicts allegedly broke the door of the police cell and ran away. Katanga has explained that Mbewe and Bwale were charged with theft and burglary while Phiri was charged with vandalism. She said the officer on duty reported that the three escaped from lawful custody around 09:00hrs after breaking the lock.
“We had a case of escape in which three convicts escaped from lawful custody at Kansenshi Police Station in Ndola,” Katanga confirmed.
She further stated that police have since launched a manhunt to bring the suspects to book.
