PRESS STATEMENT: By The Zambia Police Service

Lusaka – May 28th, 2020.

One person died while four others sustained serious injuries in a road traffic accident which occurred on 24th May, 2020 at 11 hours between Nchelenge and Chienge districts at Fwangeni Village.

Kunda Kalasa aged 20 of Nchelenge District died on the spot when the motor bike she was travelling on with four others was hit by a Hino truck registration number BAE 6017 property of senior Chief Puta.

The accident happened when the driver of the truck, Felix Mwamba aged 42 misjudged clearance distance and hit an unregistered motor bike with five pillions on it including the deceased.

The rider of the motor bike identified as Evans Musonda age not known, Abel Mpundu aged 20, Justine Kapambwe and a three year old child identified as Rabecca Kapambwe are admitted to Nchelenge District hospital were they are receiving treatment.

The Hino truck had no damages while the motor bike was extensively damaged. The driver of the truck has since been charged with Causing Death by Dangerous Driving.

    On Zambian roads, the bigger your vehicle the more comfortable you are.
    We don’t usually respect anything smaller than what we have.
    Even animals need to be respected under normal living.
