President Edgar Lungu has pledged K1million towards the construction of a Catholic Boys Boarding Secondary school in Chongwe District, saying the Catholic Church needs support as it has been instrumental in the provision of education in the country.
Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony of the school in Chongwe district on Friday, President Lungu said the government is committed to inculcate Christian values in its citizens through Education, which was key for national development.
President Lungu further urged other stakeholders to help the Catholic Church to complete the construction of the School.
Archbishop of Lusaka Bishop Alick Banda, who attended the groundbreaking ceremony, thanked President Lungu for the support to the Catholic Church as he has always been supportive of many activities of the Church.
Archbishop Banda said the future of Zambia and the Church will remain at risk unless the country invests heavily in education.
Others who attended the groundbreaking ceremony include FDD President Edith Nawakwi, PF Secretary General Davies Mwila and Senior Chieftainess Nkomesha Mukamambo II.
