Pre. Lungu Pledges K1 Million for Construction of Catholic School in Chongwe

President Edgar Lungu has pledged K1million towards the construction of a Catholic Boys Boarding Secondary school in Chongwe District, saying the Catholic Church needs support as it has been instrumental in the provision of education in the country.

Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony of the school in Chongwe district on Friday, President Lungu said the government is committed to inculcate Christian values in its citizens through Education, which was key for national development.

President Lungu further urged other stakeholders to help the Catholic Church to complete the construction of the School.

Archbishop of Lusaka Bishop Alick Banda, who attended the groundbreaking ceremony, thanked President Lungu for the support to the Catholic Church as he has always been supportive of many activities of the Church.

He said the Catholic Church does not want to rely on foreign aid to fund the construction of the Boys secondary school, therefore local mobilization of funds is what the Church had embarked on.

Archbishop Banda said the future of Zambia and the Church will remain at risk unless the country invests heavily in education.

Others who attended the groundbreaking ceremony include FDD President Edith Nawakwi, PF Secretary General Davies Mwila and Senior Chieftainess Nkomesha Mukamambo II.

Thanks to have wasted our time by thinking that pf may produce the needs in the country but seeing how poor and having street kids non has been created to maintain the state of these people, those people you are helping can destroy state house and rebuild it in a week, see where people are lucking, this isn’t an insult, biblically when you are told it means you are also loved. But unfortunately people makes it vise versa, shame.

True JMS. The Catholic church is the richest church on planet earth. They do not need any help from any person or other organizations. It would have been better to spend that money directly on projects that help the poor or venerable citizens.

Comment This is highly questionable after the Bishops from Catholic church denounced Bill 10. In truth the church is the one to give out if they are the children of the Most high who owns heaven and earth and all in them, Ref Jeremiah 9: 5. I am asking the Catholic to find out, from which pocket is the money from. If it’s from the personal pocket of the president. Then he is lacking really priority because at this stage his donation would have made more sense given to buy masks for school going children.

Good gesture but that school will be for all people as Catholics dont segregate,I wish more pastors would build schools so we can have alot of Christian churches for girls and boys.
Now politics that comment by Lubinda that he can’t listen to the catholic church,he is mistaken they made chiluba ftj by giving him space to talk in the church magazine ichengelo, when the government realised that he was gaining momentum and popularity they summoned the editor father umberto to tell him never to give him space but it was already too late.
The moral ground here is that let the youth demonstrate if they feel aggrieved, you sent soldiers with riot gear but, people are clever now they had it in the Bush and online, wake up mwebantu if government is not making life easier for everyone, vote them out,Malawi’s well done then president Lungu if you know what’s good for you have the catholic church on your side and get rid of your minister’s with questionable characters especially chilufya as he has been charged and on bail.

One thing which i don’t understand is that social media has made Zambia look like the country is in turmoil, but when you look around we are at peace. The so called youths who were sponsored by upnd went to demonstrate in the bush.shame on upnd and the disgruntled NGOs

Moses this peace must be forever and we shouldn’t have youths demonstrating in the Bush because the police promised to be heavy handed with them.
Well social media is hear to stay, the government heard and it came up with that money for empowering the youth, but I was disappointed with one guy on this forum who was making fun comments about some youths who can’t write a business proposal,
Well not everyone can get a degree but whether educated or not all citizens must be able to play a role in the economy whether just working for others, now to achieve this we need alot of our own made millionaires who can employ them as government alone can’t manage,we are a missed economy state not a socialist one.

I think we have lost it, protesting or demonstration. Are people mador maybe they don’t think properly, how can one demonstrate with trees thanks God even big people can’t reason that their isn’t protesting in the bush and you follow them its totally Madness unless they were training to come for violence but they cheated you maybe they were praying for Peace. Thinkers bring bright thoughts without harming anyone and sometimes it may look as drama but its real.

Helping the catholic church after some ministers disobeyed the church is suspicious.in 2011 the catholic church did support the late pf president to win.however down the line the church has regretted this because of the suffering of the people and the loss of free expression of speech in the country.the church wanted a catholic presedent after Chiluba a pentecostal and Mwanawasa a baptist,!this is the result if we act in order to compete with each other than obeying God.
